Riyadh's Knockout Chaos

Violence as self-defense, chaos as liberation, and roots as revolution—manifested through a visual identity that spreads and defies containment.

The Story A short film by Lucas Sogas, produced by ESCAC. A group of nightclub workers, exhausted by abuse and exploitation, decide to fight back. Their revolt unfolds in a surreal dance between techno-fueled resistance and the organic, entangled chaos of rhizomes—growing, spreading, refusing to be silenced. Rizomas Salvajes explores collective action, self-defense as a means of survival, and the tension between destruction and rebirth.

What we created We developed the film’s visual identity for online and social presence, including posters, logos, photography, and promotional imagery. Our challenge was to translate the film’s core themes—horizontal networks, unity, and upheaval—into a striking and cohesive visual system.

Behind the Process

Creating the visual identity for Rizomas Salvajes meant first questioning how rhizomes should be represented. We studied hundreds of images of roots and underground networks, testing whether a literal depiction was necessary. As we refined the wordmark, we realized that embedding rhizomes directly into the typography felt forced—too expected. Instead, we embraced a more abstract approach, letting the rhizomes exist separately in the posters and graphic elements while allowing the typography to remain bold, raw, and untethered.
